Borkum without beach volleyball would be like a beach without the sea. That's why the management of Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH, together with the Northwest German Volleyball Association (NWVV), the Beach Academy, and Björn Leidheiser, decided to launch a program again this year that complies with current COVID-19 regulations and appeals to all target groups. "We are very pleased and also a little proud that, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing hygiene and social distancing rules, we have once again put together a high-quality and well-rounded beach volleyball program this year. The collaboration with the Beach Academy, the NWVV, and Björn Leidheiser was once again very productive. I think the result speaks for itself," says Peter Schöpel, Head of Sports and Vitality, with satisfaction.

NWVV beach tournaments on Borkum 2021 reduced than usual

The Northwest German Volleyball Association e. V. (NWVV) will be represented in Borkum again in summer 2021. Like last year, there will be games only on all three weekends, but this time on all three weekends. Due to the safety and hygiene situation, accommodation and meals are the responsibility of the participants. The prerequisite is that competitive sports have been approved again by state regulations and politics.
“Last year the tournaments were well received. Particularly those participants who had planned and booked their stay on the island months in advance should get their money’s worth again,” said NWVV President Klaus-Dieter Vehling. “People who decide at short notice are also very welcome. We would like to give something back to the island, as many local events still have to be cancelled. We also want to thank you for the great trust you have placed in us over the last few years.” In consultation with Nordseeheilbad GmbH Borkum, the tournaments this year will be offered in a two-person mode (as of June 08, 2021). The number of participants is limited accordingly, so it's worth registering quickly! The tournaments have been activated in the SAMS system since mid-May.
The three weekends will be: 07/08, 14/15. and 21/22. August. Registrations are still on the website www.nwvv.de is possible.

Beach camps of the Academy from July 12th to August 20th

Alongside the NWVV tournaments, the popular Beach Academy beach camps will take place. From July 12th to August 20th, it's six weeks of pure beach volleyball. After the training weeks, participants have the opportunity to take part in the NWVV's recreational tournaments to compete against other players. The Northwest German Senior Championships and the A-Cup

The Northwest German Senior Championships for age groups I and II will take place on August 7th and 8th. Specifically, this means ages 31 and 37 for women and ages 35 and 41 for men. “Both tournaments are an opportunity to qualify for the German Championships in Berlin,” explains organizer Björn Leidheiser. A weekend later, the A+Cup celebrates its tenth anniversary in Borkum. From August 14th to 15th, well-known beach volleyball teams will play for points for the German Championships in Timmendorfer Strand. “The fact that we have been able to host the A+Cup on Borkum for ten years is also confirmation of the island as a popular beach volleyball location,” says Leidheiser. Several teams that have taken part in the German Championships in recent years have already confirmed their participation in 2021.
