To protect the coast, the Waterways and Shipping Authority and Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH will begin extensive construction work immediately in Randzelstraße at the entrance to the south beach.
During these works, the dilapidated retaining wall in the area of the beach access will be demolished and replaced with a new, stable structure. The dune area behind it will also be restored.

The existing wall has become cracked over the years and therefore needs to be completely replaced for safety reasons. During the construction work, the beach access to the south beach will be completely closed for safety reasons until approximately the beginning of March 2026.

The WSV and the NBG ask all residents and visitors for their understanding regarding the necessary restrictions. The aim of this measure is to ensure coastal protection and emergency access routes on the south beach in the long term.
