Getting married on Borkum is now even more unforgettable: With the new registry office on the beach, the North Sea island is opening an exceptional venue for civil weddings under the name "Strandesamt" – directly at the Nordbad with a view of the North Sea. The new wedding venue is a joint project of Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH and the city of Borkum.
The lovingly designed structure was handcrafted in the Strandmeisterei's carpentry workshop. It offers couples a unique atmosphere for their big day – right on the sand and under the open sky. "We can now fulfill many couples' wishes for a very special setting for their wedding," says Tourism Director Pia Hosemann. "The idea of a registry office on the beach has been on the table for a long time, and we are happy to now be able to offer it."
The new wedding venue will now be used for official marriages by the Borkum town registry office. "For years, couples have repeatedly inquired about the possibility of getting married on the beach on our island. I am delighted that, together with the NBG, we have succeeded in creating such a wonderful opportunity," says Olaf Byl, Borkum town registry office.
