On the Corpus Christi weekend, from June 16th to 19th, the Multivan Windsurf Cup will be on the North Sea island of Borkum. At the second tour stop of the 2022 season, the windsurfers travel to Germany's westernmost island.

After a break of over twenty years, the Multivan Windsurf Cup returned to Borkum for its final event last year. The North Sea island provided the windsurfing elite with spectacular conditions. On all days of the event, the athletes were challenged on the water in adverse weather conditions.

Borkum is one of the main holiday destinations for guests from North Rhine-Westphalia and all of West Germany. For many, the island is considered one of the closest spots to the open North Sea. Since Corpus Christi is a public holiday in this region of Germany, the date for the Windsurf Cup was chosen conveniently. Numerous holidaymakers make the pilgrimage to Borkum every year for this event and now they can enjoy the Multivan Windsurf Cup there. The rough North Sea off Borkum promises outstanding conditions for the windsurfing elite and fascinating images for spectators. The promenade at the aquarium is an ideal location. The natural grandstand allows a perfect view of the western beach and the hustle and bustle of the windsurfers.

In addition to the sporting highlight, this year there will also be a mile to linger. Gastronomic offerings and various exhibitors provide the ideal complement to the Windsurfing Cup.

“We have already seen in 2021 that windsurfing and Borkum are a perfect fit. It's all the better that the Multivan Windsurf Cup now comes to the island every year on Corpus Christi. A highlight not only for the athletes, the spectators will also be thrilled,” says Thorben Stalke from Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH.

“We are looking forward to returning to Borkum. Last year the island offered sensational conditions for the season finale of the Multivan Windsurf Cup in October. This year we are hoping for more pleasant temperatures for participants and spectators during Corpus Christi,” says Matthias Regber from Choppy Water GmbH, which organizes the Multivan Windsurf Cup.
