The Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH is pleased to welcome Claudia Thorenmeier, a new National Park Guide, to its ranks. The NBG employee in the Nordsee Aquarium Borkum successfully completed her certified training as a National Park Guide and Certified Nature and Landscape Guide (ZNL) in 2024. She is now officially part of the National Park Partner Network of the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park.
The comprehensive, 70-hour training course imparted knowledge about the diverse flora and fauna of the Wadden Sea – including barnacle goose, Manila carpet mussel, sea mustard and oriole – as well as about the special habitats, climatic changes, the geological formation of the coastal landscape and legal aspects of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Claudia Thorenmeier will now offer regular guided tours through Borkum's natural surroundings, introducing both locals and visitors to the fascinating interrelationships of the Wadden Sea ecosystem. As a National Park guide, she complements the existing nature education program offered by Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH and the Nordsee Aquariums, both of which are also certified as National Park Partners.
Visitors can look forward to exciting tours – for example, the beach walk "From Whale to Shark”, where mussels, crabs and other sea creatures are presented or on exclusive tours through the Nordsee Aquarium Borkum. Further events are already being planned.
All information about the dates can be found in the event calendar and in the experience shop.
