Good news for all customers of Stadtwerke Borkum: From January 1, 2025, electricity prices will be reduced. Despite the continued high burden of government taxes and duties and at the same time lower procurement costs on the European electricity trading exchanges, it is possible to pass these savings on to customers and the local economy.
"The price reduction is made possible by a clever purchasing strategy by NBG and a stabilization of wholesale electricity prices. This development follows a phase of extreme price fluctuations as a result of the Ukraine war, which had a major impact on the energy markets. The current moderate easing now allows us to pass on the cheaper purchasing prices to our customers. For a household with 3.500 kWh, this means a financial relief of around 172 euros per year. We are very pleased to be able to provide a little relief in these times of price increases in all areas of life," explain Axel Held, Managing Director of Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH, and Raphael Warnecke, Commercial Director of Stadtwerke Borkum.
Government taxes and levies currently account for approximately 22,5 percent of the electricity price, while network charges for transmission make up another 24,5 percent. Further information on government-regulated price components is available on the platform of the German transmission system operators at www.netztransparenz.de .
