Last December, Nordseeheilbad GmbH sent its Christmas greetings to business clients digitally for the first time. This not only saved resources but also money. Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH used the saved sum to bring joy to children on Borkum and simultaneously teach them the importance of environmental protection: "By teaching children the importance of environmental protection, we lay the foundation for responsible and sustainable behavior. And that's what we at Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH want to promote," explains Tourism Director Pia Hosemann.
Last Wednesday, February 20, around 19 children from the Börkumer Kinnertune between the ages of four and six were able to take part in a magic show with a focus on environmental education. In a program called "Environmental Magic" specially developed for this age group, magician Tim Jantzen introduced the children to topics such as recycling, waste prevention and the conservation of raw materials in an interactive and magical way.
The children, as well as the Kinnertune educators, were actively involved in the show. Not only did they have a lot of fun at the event, but they were also able to learn a lot about sustainable topics, such as which garbage belongs in which bin or why it is important to turn off the lights.
"The project was created in collaboration with Sandra Franke. The environmental officer for the city of Borkum wants to establish more projects like this on the island. We started with this idea and implemented the environmental magic. We are pleased that the event was such a success," Hosemann sums up.
