The fifth edition of BEACH DAYS BORKUM powered by Stadtwerke Borkum from August 1 to 4, 2024 was once again a great success. The guests once again experienced a four-day beach festival with live concerts, beach parties and top-class sports and created an incomparable atmosphere on the North Sea beach.

"Once again, wonderful BEACH DAYS BORKUM have come to an end. In the best weather, we experienced exciting matches and an emotional concert with Silbermond. At the Silent Disco and the Antenne Niedersachsen Beach Party, you could celebrate as you should on an island. With your feet in the sand, the wind in your hair and the scent of the sea in your nose. The slightly changed venue was also impressive. I would like to thank all areas of the NBG as well as the town of Borkum and the organizers who made this great event possible. And of course all the guests and players for coming and their sporting ambition. We can now look back proudly on five successful Beach Days Borkum and look forward to continuing this tradition," summarizes Göran Sell, Managing Director of Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH.

The absolute highlight was the sold-out Silbermond concert on Friday evening. Silbermond thrilled the audience for over two hours in the large open-air arena at the Nordbad. "This backdrop is unique - we've never had anything like it before. The sun in your face, a wonderful view of the North Sea and the sunset from the stage, it's wonderful," enthused front woman Stefanie Kloß. Before Silbermond, the Koblenz indie pop duo Maël and Jonas heated up the atmosphere with their performance and then the party continued until midnight at the after-show party in the Beach Village. The silent discos on Thursday evening and the Antenne Niedersachsen Beach Party with DJ Dirk Wöhler rounded off the party program.

For the youngest children, there was also a mobile sports and play area in the Beach Village during the day, as well as performances by the soap bubble artist Elias. Fabian Wittke hosted the four-day festival and accompanied the national beach volleyball tournament with both expertise and atmosphere.

For the third time, the national ROCK the BEACH tournament was a guest at the BEACH DAYS BORKUM powered by Stadtwerke Borkum. The tournament of the second German Tour had prize money of 11.600 euros and the 16 women's and men's teams also had to compete for important ranking points to qualify for the German Championships. Olympic champion Kira Walkenhorst provided "Olympic moments" on the North Sea beach. After announcing that she would end her career after this summer, she began her farewell tour on Borkum. Kira Walkenhorst played with 15-year-old Anna-Chiara Reformat as part of her beach mentoring program, in which she and her current standard partner Isabel Schneider train and compete in tournaments together with junior players. After the quarter-final defeat, the team ended up in a good fifth place. "I really enjoyed playing here again. The tournament was the highlight right at the start of my farewell tour," said Kira Walkenhorst. “With my family, who are also here now, I will definitely come back to Borkum again and again,” said Kira Walkenhorst.

There was a great atmosphere in the packed stands on the final day, and Stefanie Klatt/Tabea Schwarz (DJK TuSA 06 Düsseldorf) and Yannik Ahr/Luis Henrichs (TSV Giesen/FC Junkersdorf Köln) took advantage of this to win the title on Borkum. The trophies and prizes were presented at the award ceremony by Göran Sell, Managing Director of Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH, Raphael Warnecke, Commercial Director of the main sponsor Stadtwerke Borkum and Werner Richnow, Managing Director of the organizing agency hansebeach.
