RESTRICTIONS AND CANCELLATIONS ARE CHARACTERIZING THE WINTER EVENTS
The current Corona-related requirements for the coming weeks and the general pandemic development are once again presenting Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH with difficult decisions. Whether it's a shanty choir, blues night or New Year's Eve - every event must be checked and questioned for feasibility according to current aspects. While all winter events had to be canceled last year, there are isolated rays of hope this year.
A concert that many are looking forward to is the annual winter concert of the “Oldtimer” shanty choir on December 01st, 2021. In order to enable as many visitors as possible to attend the upcoming concert and at the same time to be able to implement the safest and most relaxed event possible, the NBG for the special musical evening on a “2G-Plus” regulation. This means that only those who have been vaccinated and recovered with a current negative test certificate can attend the concert. The seats can therefore be filled more closely than in recent weeks and at the same time the risk of infection is minimized even more than with the regular 2G regulation. The test in the Kulturinsel test center is already included in the ticket price for the concert evening. “The focus of the evening is to make the traditional winter concert of the “Oldtimers” possible for many interested parties under safe conditions. So we were able to agree on this approach with the shanty choir. The NBG bears the costs of the testing,” says managing director Göran Sell. The shanty choir supports the decision on how to carry it out. “We are pleased that the concert can take place at all and that the regulation allows many spectators to enter. “Wanting to create the safest possible circumstances for all visitors in the current situation is entirely understandable, which is why the entire shanty choir will also be tested before the concert,” Shanty Manuel Pietzner confirms the decision.
The test center on the Kulturinsel will be open on December 01st, 2021 from 08.00 a.m. to 19.00 p.m. Every concert visitor with a valid admission ticket can be tested free of charge on the day of the concert at the test center upon presentation of the card. In order to ensure that the testing runs smoothly and that the concert starts as planned, all concert goers are urgently asked to register for a test appointment in advance: www.schnelltest-borkum.de. Any on-site delay caused by manually filling out contact forms or similar will hold up the test process and endanger the start of the concert, which is why online appointment reservations are more important than ever before. Further information about the concert and the testing options offered will be available starting next week www.borkum.de can be found under the event entry for the vintage car concert. Tickets for the concert go on sale in advance from November 17, 2021.
The also popular annual Blues Night on December 29, 2021 has been in advance sales for some time, so the currently valid 3G regulation with limited distanced seating still applies for this evening. The planning for the “Lüttje Markt” at the end of December on the Bouleplatz is continuing. Whether, in what form and when the market can take place is currently being reviewed and will be announced as soon as all details have been determined.
After a “New Year's Eve of Silence” had to be celebrated in lockdown at the end of 2020, locals and guests, along with the NBG, also hoped for a colorful hustle and bustle on New Year's Eve 2021-2022. “Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to this inner image,” says Göran Sell, “because New Year’s Eve activities with special barriers and associated access as well as controls on the entire Upper and Lower Promenade, including contact tracing, cannot be implemented to the required extent.” So the NBG had to stop its plans for a New Year's Eve with a live DJ in the music pavilion and people dancing on the promenade. In contrast to last year, there will be a little more life on the promenade, as the restaurateurs on the promenade are allowed to be open this year according to the current status.
However, all NBG event planning is still subject to the dynamic development of the pandemic. “Despite the general circumstances, we and our event team are continuing to plan events for 2022, even though they are fraught with uncertainty for both organizers and artists,” adds Sell.
