Great joy at NBG. This year too, all trainees were able to successfully complete their exams to become office management clerks. All four, Lilly Janssen, Batoul Khalil, Lea Lübben and Maximilian Rau, will be taken on by the NBG in various areas of work.

Training manager Iris Heyen and managing director Göran Sell are particularly proud of Batoul Khalil's performance. Five years ago, Batoul fled Syria with her family and settled in Borkum. As part of the SPRINT project, which promotes immigration, language and integration, she took part in language courses at the Borkum vocational school and completed a one-year internship at the NBG. She then began her training as an office management clerk on August 1, 2018, which she mastered with flying colors at the beginning of July. In the oral exam she achieved 100 percent, top marks.

“We are very pleased that all of the trainees have once again passed their exams and that they all want to stay with the company. The success of Batoul in particular is the great result of a lot of hard work and sweat from everyone involved,” says Iris Heyen happily. A special thank you goes to Ms. Ludewig and Ms. Hansen, who looked after Batoul from the beginning right through to the exam and helped her overcome language barriers in word tasks.

“The SPRINT project from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Culture in cooperation with BBS Borkum and, among others, the NBG as a partner company, is a great opportunity to enable young people who have had to flee their old homeland to find a new life. We are proud to have been one of the first companies to take part and, with Batoul, to have prepared an ambitious young woman well for professional life. “It’s all the better for us that it will remain with us,” says Göran Sell.

And what does the now fully trained office clerk say for office management? “For the last five years I have been learning the language and training every day. Now I’m looking forward to being able to go to the beach with my friends and have some free time.”
