Press release – International Coastal Cleanup Day 21 September was well received

Over 100 large and small garbage collectors gathered in beautiful sunshine on Saturday for the International Coastal Cleanup Day as part of the Flens StrandGut campaign on Borkum beach. At the four meeting points Nordbad, Musikpavillon, Südbad and Deckwerk, they received Nordsee Aquarium eV and the environmental officer of the city of Borkum garbage bags, volunteer wristbands, caps and jute bags. Afterwards, the garbage collectors were able to Nordsee Aquarium refreshed with drinks sponsored by Flensburg and the Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH offered everyone free entry to the Nordsee Aquarium so that they could find out which sea creatures they had helped by picking up the garbage.

With the StrandGut campaign, the Flensburg brewery supports the collection of rubbish on northern Germany's beaches. In addition, one square meter of beach is cleaned with every bottle with the campaign label sold. As in the previous year, the state of Lower Saxony is also represented with one location - the largest East Frisian island of Borkum.
